An important part of the laboratory experience is for students to perform experiments of their own design. The three different options shown on below were developed to help students design and carry out their own projects. Each exercise listed under Option 1 provides sufficient chemicals so that the experiment can be performed twice by 8 groups of students; once with the biologicals provided with the experiment and once with tissues or conditions of their choice. This approach gives students background information and practice with techniques before they conduct their own projects. Options 2 and 3 enable students to design a variety of projects using the kits, reagent packages and individual chemicals, biologicals and supplies described in the equipment and supplies section of this web site.
